Israel is once again imposing a so-called “security corridor” across Gaza—this time, the Morag Corridor—as part of its ongoing campaign to forcibly remove Palestinians from their land. This is not about security or hostage negotiations. It is part of a deliberate strategy to divide, isolate, and ethnically cleanse Gaza’s population.

The Morag Corridor is not the first.

• Last year, Israel cut off northern Gaza with the Netzarim Corridor, enforcing a complete blockade on food, clean water, and medical supplies.
• When Palestinians returned during the ceasefire, they found mass graves, decayed bodies in the streets, and their homes in ruins. Farmlands that once fed hundreds of thousands had been destroyed—an act of ecocide to eliminate Palestinian self-sufficiency.
• Israel also controls the Philadelphi Corridor, which isolates Gaza from Egypt, tightening its control over every aspect of Palestinian life.

The separation of Rafah from central Gaza leaves only central Khan Younis—already under relentless Israeli bombardment. Despite being designated a “safe zone,” Palestinians in Khan Younis are currently being bombed in their tents by Israel.

Israel claims these corridors serve security purposes. But these land divisions have done nothing to secure hostages. Instead, they have systematically forced Gaza’s population into smaller and smaller areas, where they are then bombed, starved, killed or left to die.

This is not a war. This is genocide and ethnic cleansing. Normalisation with Israel must end.

Sanctions against other states have proven effective in halting egregious human rights abuses; they must be applied here. A two-way trade and arms embargo and an end to diplomatic relations with the apartheid state is essential.

We must recognise a Palestinian state immediately to commit to a lasting peace and an end to the illegal occupation. This is a call for basic human rights for all to be protected.
