Dear [Elected Official’s Name],

Israel has bombed Al-Arqam School in northern Gaza City. Four airstrikes targeted the school on April 3rd, killing at least 29 people—18 of which are children—and injuring dozens more. Later, as ambulance crews and volunteers continued to recover and help survivors, Israel bombed the same site again. The death toll will continue to rise.

The aftermath of the initial attacks reveals a horrific scene, with videos showing children torn apart by the blasts, their limbs shredded, and their bodies lying in pools of blood. While schools in Gaza now serve primarily as shelters for displaced civilians, Israel once again claims this was a “command-and-control complex” used by Hamas.

Israel has made this same accusation over 200 times when bombing schools full of civilians—mostly children. It has used the same justification for striking every hospital in Gaza. Yet, despite these repeated claims, Israel has failed to provide a single piece of credible evidence.

The data is clear:

  • Israel does not kill large numbers of Hamas fighters when it bombs schools.
  • Israel does kill a massive number of children when it bombs schools.
  • Israel targets schools more than any other nation on Earth.
  • Israel systematically targets children—through school bombings, airstrikes on homes, drone attacks, and sniper fire by Israeli soldiers
  • 90% of hospitals in Gaza and 90% of schools have been damaged or completely destroyed by Israel in the past 17 months

The statistics do not lie. Israel’s impunity must come to an end. Normalisation with Israel must end.

We are once again witnessing the massacre of children in schools. You must take action, words are meaningless without them.

Sanctions against other states have proven effective in halting egregious human rights abuses; they must be applied here. A two-way trade and arms embargo and an end to diplomatic relations with the apartheid state is essential.

We must recognise a Palestinian state immediately to commit to a lasting peace and an end to the illegal occupation. This is a call for basic human rights for all to be protected.
