The situation on the ground is deteriorating rapidly as Israel has launched its third invasion of the city, attacking 30 sites in mere hours, after issuing new evacuation orders to residents who have already been displaced multiple times.
Thousands of exhausted residents were told to move with only minutes’ notice before the bombing began. The people of Khan Younis were subjected to the same actions just two weeks ago, and now Israeli forces have returned to further decimate their city. Now, they are being uprooted once again, forced to traverse a city that has become a death trap, where crossing any section is dangerous, and for the sick, disabled, and injured, it is almost impossible due to the rubble choking the streets.
Alarming reports have also surfaced of Israeli forces shooting Palestinian civilians on sight for entering unmarked ‘Kill Zones’. These zones are not clearly identified, making it nearly impossible for residents to avoid them when evacuating.
Residents describe this latest operation by the Israeli military as forced internal displacement, a terrifying escalation that is deepening their already shattered sense of safety. The ongoing genocide, which has persisted for 10 months, is taking an unbearable toll on the population. Many are struggling with exhaustion, sleeplessness, and panic, as the possibility of a ceasefire seems ever more distant. Khan Younis has become a wasteland, and the human cost of this invasion is unthinkable.
Immediate action must be taken. Sanctions must be implemented against Israel to enforce a ceasefire, including an arms embargo and a two-way trade embargo. In accordance with international law, you must also support the ICJ’s call for the dismantlement of Israel’s illegal occupation and settlements, including the full withdrawal of Palestinian territories. The Hague has concluded that Israel is responsible for apartheid, and this must be met with sanctions and condemnation.
