I am writing to highlight Israel’s continued attacks on aid efforts in Gaza. On January 4th, an Israeli drone strike targeted and bombed a vehicle belonging to a private security company tasked with safeguarding humanitarian aid deliveries, killing all six security personnel on board.

This attack is part of a broader pattern of systematic targeting of humanitarian workers, aid convoys, warehouses, bakeries, and distribution points in Gaza, ensuring maximum casualties and disruption of relief efforts.

Hani Mahmoud, a journalist reporting from Deir el-Balah, notes:

“This is a pattern that we’ve seen in the past few months where security personnel and those who volunteer from the local community are targeted and killed deliberately in what seems to be an attempt by the Israeli military to create a further power vacuum and throw the entire Gaza Strip into mayhem and the chaos of lawlessness.”

Israel exerts complete control over the entry of aid into Gaza as the occupying state, denying and severely delaying essential resources. Israel also profits from their manufactured humanitarian catastrophe by

artificially inflating the prices of food with businesses in Gaza.

Over 736 humanitarian relief workers have been killed by Israel since 7th October 2023.

Just four days into 2025, Israel has bombed schools, homes, hospitals, shelters, and humanitarian workers, underscoring their continued intent to eradicate all life in Gaza.

You must sanction Israel to enforce a ceasefire and hold its leadership accountable for violating international law. Sanctions have proven effective in halting egregious human rights abuses in other contexts; they must be applied here. This includes a ban on weapons and military equipment sales and licenses and a two-way trade embargo. We must also officially recognise the state of Palestine to affirm their right to self-determination.
