Israel’s Bombing of Mustafa Hafez School – A Clear Violation of International Law
Dear [Title and Name],
On the morning of July 3, 2025, Israel bombed the Mustafa Hafez School in Gaza City, killing at least 13 people — including children so severely burned they were nearly unrecognisable.
This is not the first time. On August 20, 2024, Israel struck the same school, killing 12 people. Less than a year later, they targeted it again.
This repeated targeting of schools is not an isolated incident. Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s education infrastructure is systematic:
• 88.8% of all schools in Gaza now require full reconstruction or major rehabilitation.
• 15,811 school students have been killed, and 23,612 injured.
• 703 teachers and education staff have been killed, with 3,015 more injured.
• By February 2025, 2,308 educational facilities had been destroyed — from kindergartens to universities.
With 92% of housing units destroyed or damaged, families have taken shelter in schools — believing them to be safe. But Israel has deliberately targeted those too. It has bombed homes, hospitals (all attacked, over half barely functioning), and schools — all under the unsubstantiated claim of “targeting Hamas.”
These are not military targets. They are essential civilian infrastructure — places where families shelter and teachers try to preserve learning amid unimaginable destruction. The intent is clear: to dismantle the conditions necessary for Palestinian life to continue.
This meets the legal threshold of genocide. Human rights organisations, the UN, and a broad consensus of genocide and Holocaust scholars — including many Israeli experts — have affirmed this.
I call on you to ensure the government:
• Imposes full, comprehensive sanctions on Israel.
• Enforce a complete two-way trade embargo — ending all import and export activity with Israel.
• Immediately end all arms sales and intelligence cooperation.
• Ensure the unimpeded access of aid and humanitarian organisations, and the suspension of GHF’s deadly “aid” sites.
You have a duty (https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/documents/Genocide%20Convention-FactSheet-ENG.pdf) to prevent genocide. Act now.
