Dear [Elected Official’s Name],

After an entire year of slaughter in Gaza, over 100,000 Palestinians are estimated to have been killed by Israel. Despite the ICJ confirming that Israel’s actions constitute plausible genocide over 9 months ago, Israel has been enabled to continue its bombardment and blockade of Gaza.

I urge you to implement immediate sanctions against Israel, with the following statistics in mind:

  • Over 902 entire families have been killed by Israel and wiped off the civil registry
  • 175 journalists have been killed by Israel (only 69 died in WWII worldwide)
  • Over 1,100 healthcare workers have been killed by Israel
  • 93% of schools have been destroyed or damaged
  • Over 500 teachers have been killed by Israel
  • Every university in Gaza has been destroyed
  • Over 75,000 tons of bombs have been dropped on Gaza – this is 4.6 times the explosive force of Hiroshima
  • 89% of hospitals have been destroyed or damaged by Israel
  • 83% of required food aid is blocked from entering Gaza by Israel
  • 80% of agricultural land has been destroyed by Israel
  • 66% of buildings have been damaged or destroyed by Israel
  • 50,000 children require immediate treatment for acute malnutrition
  • 8,000 Palestinians have required amputations, with some needing multiple limb removals
  • 12,000 Palestinians require urgent medical evacuation from Gaza
  • 3,600 Palestinians have been detained or forcibly disappeared from Gaza
  • Former detainees report forms of torture, including rpe and sxual assault, beatings, electric shocks and murder

Israel must be sanctioned. A full arms embargo and a two-way trade embargo must be enforced until Israel ceases its illegal occupation, blockade and human rights violations in the region; this will also add pressure for a ceasefire. Recognising the State of Palestine and supporting the prosecution of war crimes is essential.

I look forward to your commitment to upholding international law through these actions.
