Urgent: Israel’s Imminent Attempt to Annex the West Bank / Let’s be clear, Annexation is Ethnic Cleansing / Stop West Bank Annexation: Sanctions Now / Stop West Bank Annexation / Illegal West Bank Annexation Must be Stopped
Dear [Elected Official’s Name],
Israel is escalating its military aggression and violence in the occupied West Bank, laying the groundwork for fullannexation. Over the past several months, it has intensified airstrikes, drone attacks, and military raids across Palestinian towns and refugee camps.
Since October 2023, at least 870 Palestinians have been killed and 7,100 injured in the West Bank. At the same time, settler violence has reached record levels, with at least 1,400 attacks documented by the UN in 2024 alone—nearly four incidents per day, including arson, physical assaults, and land theft.
Israel’s campaign is not just about military attacks; it is about ethnic cleansing. Over 41,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from refugee camps in the West Bank.
As Israel pushes Palestinians from their homes, illegal settlements continue to expand. Today, over 700,000 settlers live in 300 illegal settlements across the West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem, built with the explicit goal of erasing Palestine and Palestinians.
Annexation is not speculation—it is openly stated policy:
Netanyahu’s 2019 campaign promise: “I intend to extend sovereignty over all settlements.”
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich (2023): “The West Bank is not occupied territory; it is our home.”
Likud Party member Yariv Levin: “Annexation of the West Bank is not a question of if, but when.”
Trump’s previous term set the stage for annexation, with his recognition of illegally occupied Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and his endorsement of settlement expansion. He has noticeably failed to rule out the West Bank’s annexation, which is particularly concerning after his presidential campaign took a $100 million donation from a staunch pro-annexation billionaire.
Israel’s invasion of the West Bank, destruction of vital infrastructure, and mass displacement are all preparations for annexation. The West Bank cannot become another Gaza. Annexation must be stopped before it is too late.
A full arms embargo will ensure weapons manufactured in our country will not contribute to further bloodshed, settlement expansion by force, or upholding Israel’s system of apartheid (as concluded by the ICJ).
Sanctions against other states have proven effective in halting egregious human rights abuses; they must be applied here. A two-way trade embargo, and an end to all diplomatic relations with the state on trial for genocide and whose leaders are wanted war criminals at the ICC is the bare minimum.
We must recognise a Palestinian state immediately to commit to a lasting peace and an end to the illegal occupation. This is a call for international law to be upheld and basic human rights for all to be protected.
