Winter storms and Heavy rain have caused flooding, displacing the already displaced, forcing people to dig trenches around tents or take refuge in unstable, bombed-out buildings. 300,000 tents are required immediately for shelter, but Israel continues to block their entry. More than 288,000 families across Gaza face a shelter crisis as the cold deepens.
As part of the ceasefire, Israel was required to allow at least 600 aid trucks into Gaza every day. Instead, most days see around 100. Israel is also restricting fresh food and permitting mostly junk food items that cannot provide the nutrition or calories needed to sustain a population already facing starvation.
UNRWA warns that 90% of Gaza’s population is now experiencing some degree of malnutrition due to Israel’s aid blockades.
Fuel shortages have crippled access to what water pumps remain, and without electricity, clean drinking water is running dangerously low — placing millions at immediate risk.
Gaza’s health infrastructure has already collapsed. Many hospitals remain partially or completely defunct, leaving the population without adequate medical care as waterborne illness and winter diseases surge.
Israel’s two-year blockade on essential medical equipment also continues. UNICEF warned last week that Israel is blocking one million syringes needed to vaccinate children in Gaza, along with bottles for baby formula.
Through blocking food, restricting essential aid, withholding medical supplies, denying shelter materials, allowing primarily junk food into Gaza, continuing bombings and shootings, and leaving two million Palestinians exposed to severe flooding and winter weather, Israel is still committing genocide in Gaza.
