Israel’s Genocide of Gaza Continued Unabated and Without Intervention
[Elected Official’s Name],
I am writing to call for your urgent attention and action, as Israel has begun a new wave of airstrikes on the already decimated Gaza City, threatening the further displacement of over 1 million Palestinians. Since August 6th, over 1,500 homes in al-Zeitoun alone have been demolished. The destruction is apocalyptic: these are not just homes; Israel is also systematically targeting hospitals, schools, and vital infrastructure to ensure Gaza City is uninhabitable.
Across Gaza City, hundreds of thousands have been forcibly displaced, while many refuse to leave, asserting their legal right to remain in their homes. 440 people now take refuge in the city’s only Catholic Church. Some Palestinians have been displaced up to fifteen times or more over two years. Those forced south into so-called “safe zones” like al-Mawasi face catastrophic shortages. 96% of the required tents have been blocked from entering Gaza, whilst shelters lack basic necessities. Israel has also continued bombing and killing Palestinians in Al-Mawasi despite designating it as a humanitarian zone.
Israel’s blockade is also deliberately starving those in Gaza City to death. UNICEF’s Tess Ingram has said, “It’s clear on the ground that famine is absolutely ravaging Gaza City”.
The destruction in Gaza City echoes what happened in Rafah. Rafah was heralded by the international community as a ‘Red line’, and yet Israel levelled it over months of bombardment, without repercussion. Now, Israel has begun the same campaign in Gaza City. These are illegal and deliberate attacks designed to prevent residents from ever returning to their homes.
Entire bloodlines are being erased, whole cities flattened, and a population systematically targeted in this undeniable genocide. The sheer scale of destruction and human loss is visible to the world, yet decisive action to halt it remains absent.
