UK Admits It's Breaking Own Laws to Supply Arms to Israel / UK Arms Exports to Israel "Unlawful": EMBARGO NOW / UK Gov: Arms Programme "Takes Precedence" Over Preventing Genocide

Dear [Elected Official’s Name],

Despite the mounting evidence that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and an ICJ ruling that Israel is responsible for the crimes of apartheid and racial segregation, the UK unlawfully continues to supply munitions to Israel, including components for F-35 fighter jets — the very jets that have obliterated Gaza and killed tens of thousands of civilians for over 600 days.

In May 2025, the UK government was taken to the High Court by Al-Haq, supported by Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, Oxfam, and the Global Legal Action Network. In court, UK government lawyers admitted that: “Preserving the British role in the F-35 jet fighter programme takes precedence over the need to comply with UK laws on arms export controls, or any UK obligation to prevent a genocide.”

Let’s be clear: nothing takes priority over ending or preventing genocide.

In court documents, the UK government also acknowledged it is breaching its own laws, which prohibit arms exports where there is a clear risk the weapons will be used to commit war crimes.

The UK’s contribution to the F-35 programme is significant, but not essential. The US is the largest contributor. The UK could withdraw — but instead, it chooses to prioritise financial and geopolitical interest over the mass extermination of civilians.

We must end all arms exports, including F-35 parts, destined for Israel’s military. You have a duty to prevent genocide, and an obligation to end apartheid.

  • Impose a two-way arms and trade embargo on Israel
  • End all diplomatic relations with the apartheid regime
  • Recognise the State of Palestine immediately
  • Ensure unimpeded access of aid
  • Demand international investigations and accountability for war crimes
